Cantina Siciliana is a destination restaurant for foodies as well as winemakers. Luckily for you, our expert Davy stopped in for a bite and left with a fantastic wine – one so loved by locals that it’s never before been exported.
It’s a blend of local grape Perricone and international star Syrah, sourced from the very top of scenic Mount Erice (where vines mingle with ruins dating back millennia). The grapes are rigorously selected and the winemaking is an exercise in utter patience: slow, careful and with no expense spared. Oak barrels add a gorgeous softness and vanilla tinge to all that ripe Sicilian fruit.
Here’s winemaker Peppe Pellegrino on what you can look forward to: “Spicy, black-fruited Perricone is a Sicilian treasure, and when married with silky smooth Syrah, it’s the perfect pairing for the fine cuisine prepared at the Cantina. If you’re ever in Sicily, you should stop by for a meal – but until then, this wine will take you there in spirit. Saluti!”
Sicilian sunshine in every sip – but precious few cases imported. Hurry.
