Malbec is Argentina’s star red, and few do it better than Bordeaux native Hervé Fabre. Top critic Andrew Jefford says it best: “There is no Mendoza winery for which I have had more long-term admiration than Fabre Montmayou … [the wines] have had a texture and innate classiness and finesse from the first.”
This 2014 Reserva is a prime example. Hervé hand selected the ripest fruit from his prized 40-plus-year-old vines and treated it to a long 12 months in fine French oak. Master of Wine Tim Atkin recently gave it an impressive 94 Points and this mouthwatering tasting note: “Notes of pepper spice, clove and violet are intertwined with the succulent dark berry fruit and toasty, yet refined oak. ... This is a beautifully judged wine with texture to spare.”
Surprisingly versatile for a full-bodied red, this is a Reserva that can easily take you through a whole meal. From aged cheeses (think Cheddar or Parmesan) and hearty dinners (juicy steaks or roasts) … even dark chocolate desserts (Hervé loves to serve guests of the estate his favorite bittersweet, chocolate lava cake). You'll love serving it to guests, too.
Deep ruby with violet tones. Very intense aromas of red cherries and spices. Complex and well balanced, with vanilla and cocoa notes from the oak, plus a sweet, silky finish.
