We’re always on the lookout for the next great Pinot Grigio to share with thirsty customers – so when we discovered this lovely pink example, we just had to snag some for you.
Simone Cortese, star winemaker at Barone Montalto (an estate that scooped a 2015 Vinitaly Gran Menzione), makes some of our most popular Sicilian wines. Thirsty for a new challenge, he headed to northern Italy’s premium Venezie region, home to the country’s most tongue-tingling Pinot Grigio (actually a pinkish-grey skinned grape). His celestially named Lumina Lunae – “by the light of the moon” – reflects the fact that the grapes were hand-harvested during the night and cool-fermented in order to maximize freshness.
Like all top-notch Pinot Grigio, Lumina Lunae is super crisp and filled with inviting complexity – and in pink form, you’re in for lovely notes of white cherry, red raspberry and red apple. It’s a delicious aperitivo, and will also shine grilled white fish, cold chicken and salads, seafood risotto and fresh, tomato-based pasta sauces. Our rosés are always popular, and this cool Pinot Grigio won’t hang around for long – grab your share today.
