Albariño is a perfect seafood white, thanks to its citrus-charged flavors and refreshing mineral kick. But this isn’t your average Albariño – it hails from an estate that wins golds and 90-plus point scores galore (they’re a major player in the tiny, seaside region of Rías Baixas). And our expert, Beth Willard, happens to be good friends with their winemaker, so he called her first when he needed to make room in his cellars.
Up for grabs: a few parcels of this estate-grown, hand-harvested Albariño – one of the estate’s top cuvées. Our mystery winemaker would only agree to the deal if Beth swore to keep his (and the estate’s) identity a secret. Because if word got out what our customers are paying for this beauty, their regular customers would be none too pleased!
A handshake and a few weeks later, and this stunner has arrived in our cellars, just waiting to show off how delicious it is. Aged briefly on its lees for extra richness and complexity, Numerada shows off a classic green-gold hue in the glass, followed by expressive aromas and flavors of ripe pear, apple and lemon, balanced by a classic, subtle marine note.
This is the perfect wine to sip with seafood – lobster, crab and beyond. Extremely limited cases to go around (seriously, there are fewer than 340 cases in existence), so prompt orders are highly recommended.
