Red Bordeaux is prized by wine lovers the world over. And thanks to some amazing recent vintages, there’s never been a better time to enjoy a bottle … especially this one.
For 38 years, Christian Moueix was in charge of Château Pétrus – perhaps the most sought-after Bordeaux of all. At $3,000-plus a bottle, it’s certainly the priciest. You’re invited to enjoy his Private Reserve Bordeaux from the blockbuster 2010 vintage.
Following the landmark 2009 vintage, the 2010s set new records for richness and color. As Decanter magazine's Bordeaux expert Steven Spurrier said, “comparisons are made with previous years and at this level of quality, there are few contenders.”
This Private Reserve has aromas of ripe plum, black currant, licorice and hints of clove. On the palate, it's smooth and well-balanced, with dark berry fruits and a classic, minerally character. Like all top-notch Bordeaux, it will really shine when decanted 30-60 minutes before serving. Enjoy it over the next few years with roasted leg of lamb, beef tenderloin, or your favorite firm cheeses.
