“Jean-Charles Boisset seems to be pulling out all the stops to create something very special with these wines.”
That’s serious praise from renowned critic Robert Parker for Jean-Charles, the dynamic owner of Raymond (Wine Enthusiast’s 2012 American Winery of the Year). If that weren’t enough, California’s 2015 harvest is widely regarded as one of the best vintages years. And this rich, barrel-aged Cabernet is a delicious demonstration.
Head winemaker Stephanie Putnam sourced the majority of the fruit from the prestigious Oak Knoll district, “an area known for making texture-driven wines that are very supple and round,” she says. The rest of the Cabernet hails from a prime hillside site at 1,800 feet in the far northern reaches of Napa Valley. The vines here lie above the fog line, which means “they enjoy longer daytime ripening hours, helping to create lush tannins,” Stephanie explains.
Luxurious barrel aging adds further complexity to this fine Napa Cab. It bursts with layers of raspberry, cherry, and blackberry flavor plus toasty oak notes – and will make a fine centerpiece for special meals featuring beef, lamb, or hearty vegetarian fare.
Taste why Raymond and Napa Valley are really on a roll – and hurry for your share. First come, first served.
