On the trail of the freshest Pinot Grigio …
The world has gone crazy for the pure flavors and thrilling refreshment of Pinot Grigio. With its cool alpine breezes and abundant sunshine, northern Italy’s Veneto region is where the revolution began. It’s the grape’s original heartland and still the source of the most crowd-pleasing, breezy Pinot Grigio on the planet – as you’ll taste.
Crafted by local star – and Pinot Grigio supremo – Giuseppe Secchi, Sentiero dei Pini is named after a spectacular and precious vineyard. This iconic, cone-shaped site was once home to an ancient Roman temple, approached via a spiraling path lined with pine trees (‘Sentiero dei Pini’ means ‘trail of the pines’). The site also provided the perfect vantage point for advancing Roman legions, as their last point of call before heading deep into the mountain terrain. Today, this special plot is occupied by Pinot Grigio vines that yield whites as fresh as an alpine stream.
Here's the vibrant 2016 release, which has already scooped major kudos from the International Wine Challenge and the Decanter World Wine Awards, and a coveted gold medal from Gilbert & Gaillard. The judges raved: "Compelling nose of white flowers, lime and grapefruit. A fresh attack leads into a rich, aromatic, tense palate with spice notes and more of the citrus. Well-judged with lovely precision."
